As a dynamic tech startup, we focus on building systems that support our data-driven and AI-powered solutions. The IT function is small but growing, requiring hands-on leadership and strategic thinking to establish robust foundations for our expanding operations.
About the role
As our Information Technology Manager, you'll be instrumental in defining and implementing IT strategy while remaining hands-on where needed. This role combines strategic leadership with technical expertise, requiring you to guide our IT operations, strengthen security posture, and build scalable infrastructure. You'll have the opportunity to shape the technology foundation of a fast-growing startup while mentoring team members and establishing best practices.
You might thrive in this role if you have
- •7+ years in IT infrastructure and operations with increasing responsibility
- •At least 2 years in a lead or manager capacity
- •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- •Strong networking fundamentals: VLANs, trunks, routing and switching, VPN, Wi-Fi, firewall concepts
- •Proven experience with Windows Server and basic Linux administration, virtualization, backups, and disaster recovery
- •Practical Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration including Intune and core security features
- •Solid security hygiene: MFA, EDR, vulnerability scanning, hardening standards, log review, basic SIEM workflow
- •Scripting and automation with PowerShell or Bash
- •Vendor and license management experience with budget planning capabilities
- •Familiarity with ticketing, change, and incident practices at startup level
- •Excellent communication and documentation skills with service-oriented approach
- •Legally eligible to work in Canada
It's a bonus if you have
- •Experience in a startup or fast-growing company environment
- •Cisco or Ubiquiti networking, pfSense, Fortinet, or Palo Alto firewalls
- •Azure or AWS administration and identity federation
- •Familiarity with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls and ITIL Foundation
- •Certifications: CCNA, Microsoft 365 Administrator, Security Plus, CISSP Associate
- •Lightweight configuration management experience (Ansible)
